As a high school kid who loved movies and needed to fill his schedule, I enrolled in a video production class to satisfy an elective credit. I will never forget those first few weeks, learning to use MiniDV Tape Camcorders and the old-school Final Cut Pro 5. I didn’t know it then, but I had just uncovered my life’s passion with a simple scheduling decision (Thank God woodworking was full!). From the start, I was enamored by the idea of capturing unique shots and telling a story through the way I moved the camera. I was hooked.

By the time I went to college, there was no doubt in my mind that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I got my degree in Film & Video from Drexel University in Philadelphia before starting my career at various production companies and non profits. Over the next 10 years, I moved throughout the country - NYC, LA, Philadelphia, Atlanta - to work with these companies. In my time as a professional storyteller, I have been able to experience film bring about eye-opening stories of change, connect communities across the globe, and even shape opinions on presidential campaigns. 

the story

While studying film in college, I was convinced that video editing would be my life’s work. It wasn’t until I started working at HUMAN, a production company in NYC, that I really started to see the power of storytelling. I was editing projects for the Malala Fund, World Food Programme, and other amazing nonprofits. I learned how to craft interviews and shoot content so that viewers could truly feel the gravity of a story. In my time as an editor, I realized that these stories weren’t just about capturing a story, but designing a story to truly impact people. That’s when I fully fell in love with storytelling.

Since then, I have traveled to over 35 + countries to film powerful documentaries and brand stories that have changed lives. I have seen the hurt in someone’s eyes as they recount some of their most painful life experiences, but the joy that erupts when they share how their life has changed since then.

All humans know that stories have power. Filmmaking brings those stories to life. I want to take a viewer on a journey so they feel they are living the story as it’s unfolding on the screen. Collaborating with Grafted Creative is allowing the story of your life, brand, or passion come to life. Video invites emotion, more so than the written word or even a beautiful photo. Video engulfs the senses, bringing your audience into an experience.
